This bill if and when passed would let anyone in the US apply for an AOS.
Ahead of us(i doubt it).
This is just a rebranded version of something the dems were interested last time round.

Any hopes in EB3 India priority date movement? Hope they work on some legislation
Are you serious? Maybe we need to request tips from whoever it is that got a GC with 2006 PD.

5 for legals and 10 for illegals.
That's the only fair thing to do, for us suckers as well as for the illegals. And the lawmakers anyway have to create the perception that illegals are being "punished" in some form (In this case, by having a greater number of years)
The other option is to state, that they can apply but they wont get processed (approved) until all the other applicants in the legal categories are processed first. Given the size of the illegal community, they will start pushing the USCIS through their morchas, etc to process faster and the legals can benefit as a result.

If there is an answer, it is closer to Franklin's estimate of 7 years than to 3 years!
Well said Franklin, it is getting harder & harder not to attend the rally:)
Aadimanav, please attend the rally if you aren't already planning to.
As someone has said...

I DID NOT pay the huge fee.
I think they had given a waiver till August 21 or so for the July fiasco filers.
Do you think I still not have to pay or should I pay the fee ?

The party was mostly good. I only regret that sometimes, I could not hear what people on the other side of the table were talking about. The room was too dark and not quiet enough. It might have been better if we had a round table.
The most important thing is that we need to come up with an action plan after the meeting. We were not just having fun. We had some serious discussions on various issues.

You can subscribe to CRIS email for status updates. But sometimes you may not get the email. The letter may directly go to your ex employer's Attorney.
Even if you get a NOID, it may go to your ex employer's Attorney. We all know this employer attorney nexus - they are ready to screw you.
Will submitting a new G-28 form and specifying the new Attorney will not work ?

I have a different situation.
My EAD was sent back to USCIS beacuse they forgot to include apt#.
I called USCIS and they rectified the error told me that they will resend it again.
I have got the I765 receipt but not EAD card.
I called them again, they sent me letter saying that they will consider this case as lost in mail beacuse they did not get the returned EAD from poast office.
USCIS sent me a letter asking me to apply again.
DO I need to pay fee for that? It was mistake from USCIS side they have address wrong!
Does any body know what to do?

Can somebody answer this question of mine please.
If you are efiling it will automatically assign you the service center that you should be filing to. Better shoot for that to avoid any issues.

LazyCIS,
The case is not in his wife's hand anymore. As soon as the police came on site the case is People Vs Terriblething. Only thing is that the DA may be a little weary of pushing too much if his only eye witness (the Wife) does not want to push the matter.
TerribleThing,
You really really need to consult another lawyer who has better relationship with the DA.

I tried without success to get a life insurance here in the US, the reason: no GC. You can get life insurance but the premiums are outrageous.
Agent from New yourk Life told me that other comanies are not familiar with non-GC (such as US on H-1B candidates) so they are not ready to go for h-1B life insurance, but since New yourk life is Already in market for other ethanic communities that understand other immigration issues and ready to go for Non-GC candiadates too.
so my question is have you approached them during your efforts, what were your conclusions if you approached them.

will be glad to email, but so that all of us are consistent in our request, can you highlight what we are specifically asking for in lame duck session:
Is it SKIL bill, increase in visa numbers, or something else?
While we dont want to sound repetitive, it will help if we are all asking for the same two or three things.
do you think it will be helpful to have a generic draft of the email to send, which can be modified or not by each person sending it?
You can talk about how us competiveness is being affcteted.
quote February 2006 Economic Report of the President on IV homepage
basicall the first paragraph of IV site has info--
"Skilled workers are a small minority of U.S. legal immigrants. Of the 940,000 legal immigrants in 2004, only 16% were skilled employment-based immigrants. About 40% of these skilled immigrants had advanced degrees, or 5 or more years of experience after a baccalaureate degree. The impact of these workers’ contributions to American competitiveness belies their small number. They add to the process of scientific discovery, technology development, and innovation, which in turn leads to greater productivity growth. Greater productivity growth improves the standard of living for the U.S. population as a whole. Skilled immigrants not only contribute to the innovation process themselves, they also help train our own future innovators, thus ensuring the competitiveness of future generations"
You can talk abouty skil bill how it will help us innovation and also talk about retrogression and how 485 filing even if visa numbers are not available and recapture of unused green cards during the past years will help improve the quality of life for high skilled immigrants (engineers, doctors, professors, scientists, teachers etc). some information is here
http://immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=71&Itemid=36 do not forget to mention IV name for more information.
nycgal369 if you could help draft a format on this thread and everyone could use it (with modification). Your help will be very valuable for everyone.

Gulti mentality was something that guy(malibuguy) was talking about . Thats what i meant by Gulti mentality . I just started with a simple question "WHATS THE MOTIVATION FOR CONTRIBUTION(MONEY AS WELL AS TIME) FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T APPLIED FOR GC " !! Was that offensive ? I don't need answers for specific questions. I just need to know what IV is all about ? ? BTW, i have balls to ask anything to anybody if it makes sense(immigration officer is not making rules) .
Then call senator grassley and ask these questions and prove you have the BALLS!!!! Otherwise you know what it means.

the problem currently is that the system is full of lies. when you came here did you know that only 10,000 indians, by LAW, are allowed to get employment GCs per year? No. They gave you all that green grass story about how your math skills are needed here. how they don't like to study math here (and why not? all the books I studied math from were by American profs. ).
They don't want to study math because it doesn't pay. Lawyers, doctors and MBAs (bullshitters) make money here. someone has to do the work. that's where the illegal mexican and WE come in.
Let them make whatever rules they want. If the rules are bad people will stop coming here. But BEFORE a company makes an offer for an H1 employee, it should provide all the fineprint. How long the queues are, how many people get added per year, the expected time for GC processing, the fact that changing employers is almost impossible.
You know what they used to tell the africans on the ships when they were brought as slaves? "american dream, liberty and all that BS".
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/aia/part1/1i3001.html
"If I'm an African brought to Virginia, brutally mistreated, there's no way that that negative feedback can return home to alert my relatives of the problem. And that lack of communication means that the exploitation can continue."
I do not think they told us the lies, I think we raised our expecations too much, we did not do our homework. its one of those advertisement gimmicks,
where they say everthying is free and at the bottom of the page there are all kinds of restrictions written in small fonts.
thanks
